Finally we went into the stardome to watch a movie called "Perfect Little Planet" A big thank you to all the amazing parent helpers for joining us on our visit and for all your help on the playgrounds! TERM 3
We introduced the topic of Antarctica in 1d with melting and freezing water experiments. Here is a recount of one of these experiments. The ice+salt melting experiment by Isla Baldie On Friday we did some experiments with food colouring, salt, droppers and a huge piece of icy ice. First Mrs Morrison handed out salt and food colouring in containers.
We had an enormous piece of icy ice. Plop Plop. We started plopping the food colouring onto the ice. Down the side the food colouring made the ice crack slowly to make the ice look crystally. We also put some salt on the ice. The ice melted quicker because of the salt. Ohhhh! “That looks so cool” said all the people. The salt had eaten away the ice so the food colouring could be seen through the ice. Underneath were tiny ice bubbles made by the food colouring. After we had admired the ice we noticed how much the ice had melted. We tried making a volcano but it didn’t work. We made the hole go straight to the bottom. Then after lunch we saw the food colouring had turned light blue!
CHINESE CULTURAL ACTIVITY - DRUMMING
The children had a lot of fun learning to use a Chinese Drum to beat out a rhythm. The results sounded amazing!
The Tread Lightly Caravan visited us and we learned so much about how to care for our environment. A big thank you to Mrs Turner, Mrs Sun and Mrs Rogers who came to help us. We couldn't have done it without their help!
WEEK 8 DIORAMAS The students had a lot of fun creating their dioramas. The results were magnificent. Here are a few of them.
